Hi all,

My estimation Of Birmingham City Football Club went up last night from the moment I arrived off the M6. As a red I suppose I am the least favourite person on this site but I thought I needed to give credit where it is due.

Top Marks for Birmingham on the location and accessiblity of St Andrews. We parked in the McDonalds at the bottom of the ground and it was less than 200 yards to the visitors entrance. Inside the stadium was basic but very easy to get a pint and throw a bet on - (Although my fowler and 4 -0 bet never looked like coming off). Our support seemed really subdued but luckliy we started to sing and shout at around 7.40pm.

Our support was in good voice and it was a pleasure to sing the old:

"Steve BRUCE, he's got a big fat ed, he's got a big fat ed. he's got a big fat ed, STEVE BRUCE"

Our away support is class , much better than Anfield on league games and we had good banter with a small section of your fans.

Onto the game and to be fair you put us under some pressure at the start. Jerome is getting a lot of bad press on here but to be honest he was your best player all night, he hussled and bussled all night and I was impressed by his work rate. Once we got the goal though I felt that it was game over as Rafa can close games up very easliy.

Nice to see you supporters clapping Momo off ,gutted about his injury but it happens in football. :applause: .

Your fans didn't seem to be up for it till Bellamy missed the peno and thats when you looked most threatening. Dudek saved 2 really good chances so I would not be too downhearted. If one would of gone in, it would of been a different game.

A* for Maik Taylor as well. When one of your players was down, he was taking a lot of stick off a young scouser on the front row calling him "a fat *******". Maik came over and lifted his shirt up to reveal a 6 pack and made a big belly motion to the lad. Good fun and a top guy.

All in all, it was a close game but we never got out of second gear, we had Bellamy, Fowler, Xabi, Gonzo, Agger and Pennant on so we weren't a bunch of kids or reserves.

BTW Pennant? Is he actually any good?

Sum up, great ground location, good fans and you won't be in the silly Coca Cola league come September with or without old fat ed.

Reguards

Good post mate! a good scouser!!! had a run in with 1 in macdonalds before the game! me and my mate sitting there and he said to me stop reading that paper! he said it 4/5 times before he got up; so i 'flapped it' and shut it before more of my mates coming round and sticking up for me! the girl he was with was a right state but the lad he was with told him to sit down and shut up! doubt he would have started anything but a silly pikey Bas***d

What about last night when Bendtner and McSheff came on, BOTH sustitutions are sponsored by floors 2 go. I'm surprised they did'nt make them come on seperately and get twice the advertising

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but Coventry have all the corners in the Ricoh sponsored. They don't announce it, but it comes up on the scoreboard

Aye Lad what part of Liverpool yer from. I got family scattered all over South Liverpool. You said that you had a good journey down the M6, what about the other 4,999 poor sods that had to endure the M40. Only jokin ' Lar' good luck for the rest of the season.

Good and honest post by the 1st scouser **thumbup
One thing though....you got your lottery numbers in the wrong numeric order and they don't go that high anyway do they ??

oldspice ....if you were coming from South Liverpool how the hell could you end up on the M40 ....did you think you were going to Oxford or Wycombe instead ?... wtf**

And yes,Jermaine Pennant is very average and you easily paid twice the money you should have.......Cheers **thumbup ........hopefully we'll use it to buy Bendtner or Muamba....or BOTH

This is a trophy Liverpool do well in.......you've won it more times than any other club......Fancy you to go all the way as long as you don't select Bellamy again

Can't see you winning the Prem though now.....that's deffo a three horse race between Man United,Chelsea and Arsenal IMHO

good post scouser, it's alway interesting to hear the views of someone judging our players objectively as there are some of our fans won't give any of them a chance! first mistake and you're hounded all season long.... and it was quite a subdued atmosphere, that's typical lately i'm afraid, and i reckon it's down to fear of getting beaten!

Good to see a post with sensible feedback for us, thanks a lot. It was a good game between two depeleted sides. I'm getting a bit fed up with you beating us, but things change in football, let's hope it's soon.

I was disappointed with the scouse crowd on the night. They used to be some of the most inventive group jokers around, but the constant resrting to fat ed was boring, and as said before almost every northern side sings the same chant. Oh for the old Liverpool chants.

Overall though a good night, with the right result, just about.
